Installing new locations, not a problem now

The news
We’ve just updated our geographical data (geo for short) and make it available to anyone for download.

The Problem
There was a problem installing new geo data and the maximum time a PHP script could run because the amount of data is so big that usually the process of adding new countries took more than the 30secs limits that by default has PHP.

The solution
To solve that, you could increase the max_execution_limit in PHP or download the files ready to be imported into OSClass and do it manually. Since in some shared servers users are not allowed to change PHP configuration, we make our geo data available to anyone, for download, ready to import into OSClass. Follow these steps :

  • Download the .sql you want to from geo.osclass.org/downloads
  • Change /*TABLE_PREFIX*/ for whatever your prefix is. (if using OSClass’ built in import functionality it’s not needed to modify anything)
  • Import it to your database (via OSClass’ import functionality - Admin panel > Tools > Import- , phpMyAdmin,  command line,… )

Troubleshooting
Using phpMyAdmin / OSClass’ import system will reduce the time (the information will not need to be downloaded from our server) but the time limit will still exists, doing by the command line is the recommended method (México is a 10Mb file, which will take a long time to process in MySQL).

If you already have one country/region installed, it’s not possible to install it again with these files, an error will occur.

Are you not able to find your country? Is some information wrong?
We’re not perfect, we also couldn’t find and process information about every place in the planet, if you have some corrections to made or want to share your personal database with geo data from your country, please contact us!

    Hi bizzzlokaartiziouwes,

You need to enter the details of your MySQL server, such as the host where it’s located and the database you want to install OSClass to.

    great work men !
where to find the other countries wich are not avalaible for download ?

  6. desteban says:

    Hi engineer22,

If it’s not available to download means we don’t have data from that country (besides the name), so unfortunately you will have to find other sources and adapt it by yourself.

  7. engineer22 says:

ok thank you desteban, if you want i can provide to you a list of some locations in some countries that not listed

  8. desteban says:

Hi engineer22 that would be great!

  9. Raj says:

I installed a realestate portal for a city. For that i have to post city area names on the right widget which is you gave in realestate demo. For that where i have to post. please help

  10. Juan Ramón says:

@Raj: for now, the city areas works a bit different of the countries/regions/cities, it’s a free text that the user introduce himself. So, if you want to show in the sidebar… you should do a new query to obtain the results.

    Its great update. Thank you.

One thing, If your country is existing and want to update the country, then delete all the regions and cities from admin dashboard and delete the below lines(its top 2 lines from the country) in the .sql file and import it.

    INSERT INTO `oc_t_country` (`pk_c_code`, `fk_c_locale_code`, `s_name`) VALUES
    (‘PK’, ‘en_US’, ‘Pakistan’);

    haradeep,

Also delete these lines (its top 2 lines from the country) in the .sql file and import it.

    INSERT INTO `oc_t_country` (`pk_c_code`, `fk_c_locale_code`, `s_name`) VALUES (‘in’, ‘en_US’, ‘India’);

Both Pakistan and India are rogue states, useless to add them. Don’t try to be smart. lol

  14. Juan Ramón says:

@chiranjibi: You should import all the countries you want to have… However, I think that it would be a better idea to focus in one country or even region at the beginning.

  15. sajjad says:

the regions of my Country (IRan) Is incorrect.

  16. pradeep says:

    Dear All Friends,
i am testing osclass and installed this database file from admin panel which was successfully installed but i m still unable to view location sidebar. Is there any solution for the getting the location bar .

  17. Juan Ramón says:

@pradeep: in the sidebar only appears the locations with items, aka ads.

  18. josh says:

I followed the instructions and for some reason it keeps rejecting the file for U.S.

  19. josh says:

Works for some other countries like Colombia and Afghanistan, but not U.S.. Why is this?

  20. Juan Ramón says:

@josh: Do you already have installed US? We wrote a note in the help section in the geo download page: If you already installed a country or a region you should not installed it again.

So, if you have already installed US locations, please, first delete the locations and then import the sql file.

  21. Catalin says:

problems. not installed. SQL. RO. show me like that (There was a problem importing data to the database)

  22. carlos says:

@Catalin, I tested importing it in osclass 2.3 without any problem (RO-Romanian.sql) through admin panel -> Tools -> Import. What osclass version are you using ?
Do you already have installed RO?
Remember you have a little help at end of the page http://geo.osclass.org/downloads/

So , if you already installed RO locations, please, first delete the locations and ten import the sql file.

  23. Catalin says:

Sorry, but the problem is the location of RO. I wrote RO.sql. I understand that from this file in the database is installed. No, I could not install them, I began to write at hand. Was the problem with the script that was smashed several times. Someone still has access to the script, or you can crack that easy… Language use .RO 2.3 but not translate everywhere, and needed to translate the script. . Htaccess does not work perfectly in Romanian, still has some bugs, it looks perfect: domain/category/subcategory/Ad, I show domain/category/subcategory/index=?261, not at all, in English there are no problems.

  24. Catalin says:

    Hi! Carlos
I tell you, I tried on all sides and possibilities and not working.
This is the error: There was a problem importing data from the database
