We’ve just added OSClass premium edition a couple of days ago. What’s included?
- Installation- if necessary
- Premium support via an exclusive forum
- No footer link
- No donation button
- No advertisements
- All available languages are included in the installation
All profits from the sale will be used to develop and improve OSClass. Pricing:
- Installation and 1-year premium support: 50$
- Installation and 1-month premium support: 20$
However, if the only thing you want is remove the footer link and the advertisements, you can pay 10$ If you want to remove the footer and advertisements, it would be a nice gesture to donate $10 towards the continued development of OSClass.
So it is forbidden to remove footer links and advertisements to us manually?

I have to say that I’m a bit disappointed about the new chosen direction. It has nothing to do with the 10 or 50$ to pay but I think that the initial spirit is fading away. Now you’re entering in that part where people will compare with other softwares, which are at the moment even a step ahead i.e. openclassifieds and so on But on the other hand I can understand why you are doing this..
To me, from what I saw until now, I really do love this script and plugins, it has potential.. but don’t get me wrong, there are some essential things missing before I would say, I’ll go rather for premium.. till there I’d prefer to click on the donation button!
WOW, I didn’t see this one coming, I’ve been following OSClass for a while now and is everything a bit weird, who started the software? was not santiago lizardo? why he is not in the project any more? he sold it to a company? I wolud love to know a bit more about osclass and what’s the goal of the software, what you want to achive with the premium? what you want to do with the GPL version?

@Minutis: It’s not forbidden, but it would be a nice gesture to leave the footer links and advertisements. I’ve updated the post to clarify this part. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
@Rob: I’ve clarified the remove footer payment, it’s not mandatory as I’ve said to @Minutis. The only main change is that we offer an extra support for people who pay. It sounds great. I will definitely will be asking for processional support. I am evaluating the classifieds for a new product release. And this will work great for me guys.
Will there be theme support too? How much for it?
I kind of understand this, I just hope Osclass doesn’t turn into the way Noah’s classifieds is. I tried them first before finding you guys and they basically don’t allow much help at all for the free users. And I really hope Osclass doesn’t turn into something where you have to end up buying the premium version in order to use all the functions, thus not being open source anymore for free users. It would be nice to see Osclass function like WordPress does. Maybe charge for some premium themes and as you are doing now, professional installation and things like that, but I hope the basic script and updates and plugins will continue to be free. Another idea would be to charge a small fee for doing custom plugins and widgets?
I do not mind keeping the link in the footer, but I would have a problem with keeping ads on the site (besides my own). But $10 is worth donating to a script like this, so I don’t think that is unreasonable either. I was very excited when I found this script and I’ve seen what a great job you guys are doing with it. It has come a long way since just a few months ago!
It would just be a shame to call it still open source by changing the rules. If we’re talking about an added service on osclass’ website then it’s fine, but not if we (webmasters) end up into having a footer, a donation button and ads on our homepage (making myself the voice of non-coders who wouldn’t be able to make any change in the script).
Please keep your initial “free sharing idea” in mind, that is what we loved & love in OSClass.. added with your touch of active listening and concept openness. I guess that is the recipe that will lead to huge improvements and satisfation. Avoid the same mistakes than other software developpers.

@Classadsequine: I don’t know a lot about Noah’s Classifieds but we’ll be open-source and support the users as now. In addition, I love WordPress! We’ll see if we charge for premium themes or similar. I also like to see how other people customize OSClass for their clients.
@Rob: The philosophy would be the same. OSClass will always be open-source. I’m going to write another post to clarify this one.

If i buy premium osclass, will there be all countries, regions, Cities, etc (Example: India & its regions, cities etc). ?? Since you have mentioned only about languages but not the countries & regions.
Also will there be extensive rich text (example: font size, font styles, etc) plugins ??

What features do you want to add to rich text? We’ll open to improvements!

May I know, if I donate $10 will I be able to get the premium edition of osclass without support but with all the current existing countries and regions that would appear on the dropdown list when the user posts his/her classified ad. Also, send me a demo link or website link of your clients running Premium osclass script.

I am sorry to say here friends, many of you were provided with the free software and according to GPL, you can all modify it in way and remove whatever you want.
1. Whether software needs still improvements or not it is secondary, since it is a open source, these types of source codes are preferably for developers and any developer can make the improvements for this source code. Comment on this aspect is not fair.
2. Everyone knows that the costs for maintaining a website and offer some service for free means, they are having talents and may be because of lack of finance they try to express their talents in this way and indirectly they depend on us to expect some help. Coding is a pain in ass.
3. I am using many of free softwares and I am expert enough to remove any sort of encryption. Even I do remove footer links because sometimes it may disturb your brand, I agree for this. But I donated for most of the programmers who have provided the free open source for me, they never asked for that. And also somehow I am still maintaining a good back link and a custom designed banner link in possible areas for all of their website.
4. We all mankind of one global community, one moral rule is when we get something from someone, we have to give something for them. Donating 10 dollars is not a huge amount in any currency and will let one to build a software company. Anyone can make revenues out of these software if perfectly utilised in one or the other way. We do not loose anything by making donation of 10USD.
Anyway I am testing this on my sub domain project, if i decide to go commercial the same day I will make a payment for it. Basic and search engine friendly feature is enough for me.

OSClass is an exceptional development and is getting bigger and better every month, they have given you the ability to now make profit from your classifieds sites, so its only fair to make a donation to he developers of the money making tool.
I cant get my head around people who EXPECT everything for free!
Premium is a clever way to simply keep the lights turned on at OSClass! Energy isnt cheap, server running costs aren’t cheap.. And the labour put into this project is priceless..

Regardless if you remove the footer or encryption.. It makes no odds.. If you are contributing or donating.. I think that’s how it all grows collectively!

@Nagaraj: I don’t know why it’s happening… We don’t set the language of the paypal donation page, it’s set by paypal automatically.
@Ramon , the simple way to receive a donation is to send me your PayPal email adress.

Friend, I want $ 20, I wonder if you can have several templates, maps and if the customer has the option to highlight your ad (to highlight). meis payment, and camp to introduce new currency?
