We’ve explained some of the new features and improvements in the last post. However, here the changes of OSClass 2.2:
- We modified the item manager: new and more filters, useful columns
- Custom fields: Do you want to add your phone? You can! Custom fields can be required fields and only for some selected categories
- We’ve improved the image processing: images weigh less. Moreover, you can add a watermark in the center or in the corners (as most of you requested after the RC)
- Premium ads are supported. Use Paypal plugin so you could establish publish and premium fees!
- Locations are not required when you add a new item. In addition, we use autocomplete instead of selects now.
- Added more helpers and hooks
- All known bugs have been fixed
You can see the full changelog.
We’ve removed the worlwide option in the installer because all the data it has to download, it doesn’t work fine. We’re working on improving geo.osclass.org, but we’re having issues in how we reach the data in OSClass.
Most of the users in the forum have requested a diff of the changes we make in the theme. There’s a new page in the wiki where you can see the diffs of all the theme files from version 2.1.1 to 2.2. If you think we can improve how we deliver this info, you can write a comment in this post.
Moreover, we’re extending our wiki. There’s new pages for developers and beginners. For example, if you need more information about how to configure paypal plugin, there’s more info in the wiki.
For translators, we’re uploading the translation files and once it’s finished we’re going to send an e-mail to you. Remember that now plugins can be translated in the translation backoffice. Furthermore, you can share your plugins with us.
Download OSClass 2.2 in .zip or tar.gz
Update: mail templates can be translated in the backoffice and will be installed with the language packages.
Update: OSClass 2.2.1

tnx!
yes guys
cheers.. I’m gonna have to check this straight away
I’m checking and testing the release in a test site and didn’t found until this moment any issue. Compliments for good!
Gonna upgrade the live site currently and will report any findings.
Very, very so much compliments!
Hey, can someone help me im having issues with the paypal plugin http://forums.osclass.org/index.php/topic,3441.0.html
Wonderful, thanks.
my website is coming.
I hope oc can add the membership. such as free member, silver member, goden member, etc.
different member group has different function. such as ad amount limilt, etc
Just tried the 2.2 release, super great! A few observations:
1. I could not run auto upgrade from 2.1, got an error message says “Your OSClass installation can not be auto-upgraded…”. I checked my folders, all files were set to 644. I had no problem doing auto upgrading with other applications like WordPress, so it ruled out server problem.
2. I did an manual upgrade by upload all the 2.2 files to my server (over wrote everything on the server). on the bottom of the admin pages, it says “OSClass 2.2 “, but on the top it still says “OSClass 2.2 is available! Please upgrade now”.
3. Locations: can we get an option to keep “select”, some people may like “select” better than “autocomplete”.
4. admin:general settings:locations: while country name has language versions, is it possible to make regions and cities to have language versions as well?
5. “Publish an item” form: can the “Title” and “Description” boxes be dispayed and accept input in selected language instead of the first language? Although users can select any language on the tabs, but not many people will notice they are in a wrong language input box.
Again, super great work! Thanks!
Just did a test with this autocomplete for locations, and found that I’d rather have “select” instead of “autocomplete”. I am going to run a site for the San Diego area, including several big cities, like Irvine, Los Angeles, Riverside, etc. Now the users have to guess which cities are there, since no list is available for them to select from. If they type in a city that is not in the database, they will get an error message “Municipality too short” (what does it mean anyway?). Also, the error message flashes too quick and went away, I myself missed it a lot of times and wondering why nothing happened. Finally, I caught that error message and realized what went wrong.
Bug(?): in my database, I only have California as “region”, when I input “New Yor” in the region box, I got that “Municipality too short” error message serveral times, but it went through and published once. I don’t know how it happened, it published as “San Diego (New York)”
@billliu: We have a lot of work to do and we’ll improve the user management. Stay tuned for next versions.
@zwt:
1. Our mistake… I’ve checked the upgrade function and we don’t allow to upgrade if the file permissions are 0777. So, the message and the real process is not the same… we’re going to fix this in 2.2.1.
2. As it is explained in the wiki you should run the upgrade-funcs.php script:
http://example.com/oc-includes/osclass/upgrade-funcs.php3. I think that we’ll allow both: select and autocomplete. I’ll answer this question in the forum (if I am not wrong, you’ve answered this in the forum)
4. We’ll work in that… I thought that the regions and cities would be the same. However, we’ll add after figure out how to implement it easily.
5. Right. It makes more sense.
We’re going to check this bug… stay tuned because I’ll reply asap in the forum.
I hope oc can add the user’s website.
every user own a website, or blog, you can check the user’s ad information and person(company) inforamtion at their website.
How to install? I can’t find the folder oc-installer…
@Diablos: Sorry… there’s a mistake in the wiki. Here is the right answer: http://osclass.org/installing-osclass/
Diablos, you have all the info at http://osclass.org/installing-osclass/
Regards
yes, thank you
Great job!
Great new features!!
- Why new classifieds still don’t have by default an expiration deadline – with optional extension? Or do I miss something?
- Where are we able to subscribe for news from your group about new releases and other similar?
Upgrading:
Would it possible to list somewhere in the updates a list of files to preserve in case of manual upgrade? I mean: if I manually upgrade, which configuration files should I pay attention to that might have been changed by myself – in order not to lose my changes?
@John Smith: You can define the expiration deadline… I think that it’s better that the admin chooses the expiration time. I’ve just added a subscription form in the sidebar of the blog.
You should change only
config.php,oc-content/themes,oc-content/plugins.Juan: many thanks for this, I appreciate!
RE expiration date: this is subject of discussion, because it’s useful the subscriber becomes aware of expiration deadlines defined in the system and receives automatic alerts in order to extend or not his post.
